Drill Day

Location: Fort Amherst, Dock Road, Chatham.  ME4 4UB
Date: Saturday 04th May 2024


Come along to Fort Amherst in Chatham Kent, it is one of the best preserved Napoleonic forts in Britain. Have a tunnel tour, or just walk around it's very extensive grounds. The 79th Cameron Highlanders will be holding a drill day here, where the troops will be practicing there marching and musket drill , also their surgeon will be there explaing Napoleonic surgery. A very good day out for all of the family, and there is also a cafe where they sell a variety of hot and cold drinks as well as food, and also guided tunnel tours for a extra cost.

Broadside Gaming Day

Location: Black Lion Sports Centre, 23 Mill Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1HL

Date: Saturday 08th June 2024


Come along to the Black Lion Sports Centre to attend the annual tabletop gaming gathering day! Demonstration games, participation areas, trade stands and more, just £4 can get the whole family in for the day! A great day out for the tabletop gamers out there or if you are interested in tabletop gaming it is well worth going along, and some of the 79th Cameron Highlanders will be in attendance to chat and show you what reenacting is as a hobby.

Broadstairs Dickens Festival

Location: Broadstairs, Kent.

Date: Saturday 15th and 16th June 2024


This will be the 87th year of this event, which started in 1937, to commemorate the centenary of the author's first visit, Gladys Waterer, the then resident of Dickens House, conceived the idea of putting on a production of David Copperfield and of having people about the town in Victorian dress to publicise it. Charles Dickens often went to Broadstairs from 1837 until 1859 and immortalised the town as "Our English Watering Place" in 1851. During the festival you will see many costumed people, special displays and readings from many of Charles Dickens books. A must go to event if you are interested in Charles Dickens or that period of time, or just visit one of Kents most beautiful sea side towns! A great day out for all of the family.

Date: Sunday 28th July 2024


Come along and visit an Elizabethan Castle, built on the banks of the River Medway to protect Chatham Dockyard in time of war. An ideal location for to learn about this historic location, and look around this lovely area. Some of the 79th Cameron Highlanders will be there, and will only be to please to talk to you. A great day out for all of the family.

Day of Syn

Location: Dymchurch, Romany Marsh Kent.

Date: Saturday 24th and 26th August 2024


This will be the 60th Anniversary event, which celebrates Russell Thorndike, an actor and novelist, best known for the Dr Syn of Romney Marsh novels and brother of renowned actress Dame Sybil Thorndike. The Day of Syn novels are about the local people smuggling in the 18th century on the  Romany marshes and was turned into many films. On the 25th and 26th there will be many activities going on, including displays, history and art exhibitions, a local fete and two marches also re-enactments between soldiers, revenue men and the smugglers!

A great event for the whole family in this sea side location of Dymchurch in Kent.
