Easter Weekend at Fort Amherst 2010

The weather was not really kind to us this year, cold, damp and cloudy  but we carried on regardless, intending to have some fun, also there were our old friends the 60th American Rifles. The fort was open to the public, and despite the inclement weather many turned out over the weekend.

Some of the 79th getting a bit of practice in.             Who can load & fire 3 shots in a minute fastest?

To entertain the public we put on a show twice a day; showing the differences between the 79th's Brown Bess musket and the 60th's Rifles in a contest of loading and firing three shots in a minute, over the weekend it turned out to be a draw!  Then some French attacked us (dressed in what seemed some Scottish highland uniform parts)  and we had to repel them, then execute the survivors, much to the glee of the public.

Some of the 79th attacking the "French" then capturing one of them.

The execution of the French and some of our women collecting the dead before taking any clothing that we may need in the future.

The weekend went well apart from the weather and we all hope that this season will be a good one, meet many new people, go to different places and generally have a good time. We all hope to see you at one of our events this year!
