Dickens Christmas Festival
The dickens festival took place on the 4th and 5th of December, in which it was one amazing weekend. Most of the 79th were snowed in, however with only four of us we still manage to have a great time. Ok so we weren’t very Victorian looking, but when there is an occasion to dress up then we are there! Soon as we got there…“click, click” pictures were taken left right and centre, we must have caused congestion in Rochester High Street. Everyone was so friendly and interested in whether Tony and Dom where true Scott’s men, I can assure you that it was far too cold to be true Scott’s men at the weekend! With cold toes and thirsty men it was time to head for the pub.

After a bevy or two we hit the high street again were our public awaited us, and at last Dion appeared who had overlaid! We strolled down the high street, searched for shoes (and failed in the searching), ate huge pizzas and drank mulled wine/hot chocolate. The first day ended with more bevies and nibbles courtesy of the North Foreland Pub which is a re-enactment pub located in Rochester.

The last day of the festival in my opinion was the best! We had a time traveller, with a Napoleonic grey coat coving her clothes with only her “chavy” trainers showing.

That was fun getting my little sister involved. The morning started
with tea and white hot chocolates (may I say the best hot chocolate ever!) and a
good old chat to the manager of the coffee shop.
We strolled, had more photos
taken and ate good food. The night ended with a candle lit parade through the
High Street. I was good to see everyone staring at the fantastically
dressed
Victorians. Finally the carols started. It was such an amazing atmosphere with
the crowds singing and fake snow falling on us, what a great way to finish the weekend. Cannot wait for the Dickens Summer Festival.
