"Circle of Friends" Meopham 05th July 2009

This was the
first time that we attended this event, and it turned out to be a very good day,
organised
by the Gravesham District Scout Group as a fun day for
disabled children.. The unit
soldiers put on a couple of displays of
standard drill and skirmishing tactics in the arena,
although we did not fire of any full rounds because some of the children were a
bit nervous of loud noises; we did however fire some
"flash in the pans" to show
how loading and firing takes place. There was also a fair bit of interest in our
living history campsite from the public as well.

Our living history camp.
Our soldiers performing for the crowd .

Our soldiers being attacked by "Iggy"
The Kits Coty Morris dancers without Iggy!
The unit in general
also took full advantage of the facilities on offer by having a go at the
archery, air rifle shooting, wall climbing and abseiling , although our guys
climbing and abseiling in kilts
was a sight
a sight to see!
We all had a thoroughly good day and enjoyed ourselves, the lovely weather
also helped in that direction. We also received very good feedback from
Sheila who organised the event saying that she was very impressed by us and
that the public really enjoyed and appreciated what we did, so hopefully we
will be invited back again.

Climbing the rock face, very hard work!
Coming down the other side is much easier!
