Waltham Abbey 2010
The Multi period event at Waltham Abbey Powder Mills was on held on the weekend of the 25th & 26th September and groups of re-enactors from the English Civil War to WW2 attended also the Napoleonic Association were there, the autumnal weather was not really on our side with bouts of sunshine to heavy rain and high winds but we all braved the inclement weather and did our best.

On the Saturday we awoke to a cold and damp morning and all of us hoped the weather would improve , and as the day progressed it did brighten up somewhat and turned to be the best day of the weekend. The public who attended the event did appreciate all of us re-enactors and many in depth conversations were made and hopefully new friends. The soldiers of our unit practiced some drill and firing and later in the day a "Firing through the ages" was held to show how the weapons had got much faster and more accurate through time; this ranged from bows and arrows to WW1 guns.

On the Saturday night to Sunday morning it rained and a terrible wind blew and we got up to find that our awning had blown down overnight, so repairs had to be carried out before breakfast! This day was more dull and wet than on Saturday but we all did our best yet again. Less public turned up than yesterday, due the weather, but fun was had by all who turned up as they showed their "British spirit". The activities of the unit were very similar to the day before and we all enjoyed ourselves as this was the last event of the season.
