Detling
Military Odyssey 2009
Every morning at Detling revealed a sunny warmth that encouraged visitors in
their thousands. People of all ages visited various historical ages and enjoyed
the comfort of a good camp. There were stalls and exhibits for all to enjoy
including commentated battles on several battlefields. Several of the 79th were
at this event including some new faces. The usual drills and marching was shown
as well as the battles for the public, this was a very joyful event and a good
time to catch up with old friends. During the day we the unit members enjoyed
the company of each other, other units and most of all the public and by night
we also enjoyed the company of each other and the beer tent!
This was a brilliant event and one can only hope more of us can attend next year
